Young Living is a community started in 1993, when D. Gary Young and Mary Young developed their first organic herb farming and distillation operation.
After establishing Young Living in 1994, the Youngs developed more farmland in Utah and Idaho and began cultivating lavender, peppermint, melissa, clary sage, and many other herbs. Essential oils are the volatile substances derived from plants, containing the natural smell and characteristic of the plant. Essential oils are often described as the 'life blood' of the plant. They have protective properties which are the plants natural defense mechanism.

They own their own farms all across the globe which gives them control over not only the outcome of the oils but also the soil they have been planted on, the way they are distilled, and the team behind the crops. Every oil that has come from outside of YL's crops has been rigorously tested for purity. We call the oils "beyond organic" because they ensure that no pesticides have ever been used on the crops or on the soil. Any time you want to visit Young Living's farms, you are welcome. They have an open door policy. And you are able to participate in the harvesting and distilling process of the oils throughout each season. These oils are therapeutic grade and do not have an expiration date!
