Peppermint Lip Balms
Lip Balms basically take 2 ingredients: Coconut oil and beeswax. That's it!
The most important step in the entire process is preparing the area.
I like to lay parchment paper down on the counter to protect against spills.
If you spill wax then it's kind of a pain to clean it up so the parchment paper works perfect.
Also, something else to keep in mind, whatever utensils you use for the beeswax will pretty much be only for beeswax later so keep that in mind when choosing your utensils. I made a make shift double boiler with a couple pots I don't use regularly. It works out perfectly
So let's get started shall we?
Start by melting your wax and coconut oil in separate containers. Add 3 Tbs of each into small bowl and mix. You may need to melt them together for a few seconds as well because wax melts at a hire temperature then coconut oil so when you blend them together it may harden a bit.
Once the mixture is melted, use a dropper to add the mixture into the lip balm container. If you're making different lip balms then you'll add the essential oil once you've filled the container (while the wax is still liquid).
If you're making all the lip balms the same then you can add the essential oil before adding the mixture to the containers. It's up to you how you proceed.
For instance, if I want to make a lavender, peppermint and spearmint/lime then I would just fill the containers first and then add my oils last.
The lip balm containers are also a great way to take your oils with you on the go when you can't take glass roller bottles.
You can make an immunity balm, pollen buster balm, calming balm etc. There are endless variations.
