Brother's Keeper

There’s a saying that goes “I am not my brother’s keeper”, but what does that mean exactly?  Basically, it’s a way for someone to say that they are not responsible for what someone else does or for what’s happening to them.  Great! Now we know what it means, but too many times people mistake the actions of 1 to include them all.  What? How many times have you met one person and for some reason you just didn’t hit it off, or perhaps they were just a jerk.  Did you write off the rest of the siblings because of the one?  Too often we don’t take the time to truly get to know someone.  Perhaps they have a sibling who has caused a raucous or perhaps you’ve ‘heard through the grapevine’ so you didn’t take the time to find out for yourself.

Perhaps it’s time we stop long enough to get to know someone before simply writing them off.  Who are they, what are they about, what makes them tick?
