The Dash

Recently Bruce was asked to make a cross for a young mans candlelight vigil

1994-2018

This young man was just 23 years old. (he was due to turn 24 this year)

That reminded me of something I had seen some time ago about the dash.

The numbers are not what we should be focused on.  It's the dash in between that needs our attention.

Your life matters.  Your life has meaning.  Your life has a plan and a purpose.

What we choose to do with that dash is what matters.

Some are placed on this earth for just a few months, others a few years and yet others have 100 years.

I had the opportunity to meet a young girl who's dash was only a few short years.  What she did in those few short years will affect so many for years to come.  She impacted more lives in that little dash then some who have spent 100 years working on their dash.  This precious little one touched everyone she came in contact with and she came in contact with so many.

I know others who's dash was 57 years and they too touched every life they came in contact with.  They may not have reached as many but they touched the lives of all of them in a very positive way.

And then there's the others, you know the ones... Those that are around for so many years.  Yes they've touched lives too but not in such a positive way.  The hurt left behind has left scars and memories that have to be overcome.

I don't know about you but I want the dash I leave behind to be filled with positive happy memories for others to look back on.

What will others have to say about your dash?

Remember: Your dash has a plan and a purpose.  Whether you fulfill that plan and purpose is up to you
