The Sound of Good Morning

Early morning at camp is my very favorite time

We had some rain last night so there’s the sound of the water drops as they slide from leaf to leaf, eventually landing on the tin roof of the overhang as a loud PING or to the ground as a SPLAT.  Each drop making their own unique sound as the fall.  They fell from the heavens last night, and this morning they are making their journey to the river in a series of slides, pings, splats, plops and splishes and splashes.

A single insignificant water drop, but when combined with the others, it makes for a beautiful morning chorus.

Have you ever noticed how a spider web can survive a drenching downpour?  Makes ya think about how even in the midst of a storm, God is there.

We’ve weathered a few rainstorms this year and through it all, we’ve had our family and church family right there with us, praying us through the storm.

There’s the sound of a tractor not far away.  Even on Sunday, there’s work to be done.

The owls are sounding off on their morning ritual and various birds are singing their songs as well.

The neighboring cows have started to moo, gently reminding the farmer that they want to be fed.

The fish are jumping and splashing about, there must be bait close by.

An acorn dropped with a loud crash while a branch from one of the beautiful oaks just fell with a loud kerplunk.

There’s something about, listening to the morning as it wakes up.

Whether you’re in a tree stand, watching the sunrise over the lake, or sitting by the river there’s some special and unique when you are still and LISTEN

Enjoying the day as it wakes up, stretches and whispers ‘good morning’ is a beautiful sound.
